Kent-based Midas Waste is an independently owned waste management company covering all business sectors and commercial waste streams. Equipped with an extensive range of specialist containers and vehicles, Midas can expertly handle almost all forms of waste, enabling their clients to concentrate on their core business activities.
In 2021 Midas Waste needed to implement a waste management software solution to efficiently manage their processes. Having prior knowledge and experience of several solutions, Director Sonya Cragg explains that “we were looking for a system that would provide an end-to-end solution.
“We wanted to maximise every journey and needed a system that would optimise our routing, integrate with our vehicle weighing solution and give us instant access to information. So, we chose PurGo.”
As one of the regular system users, Sonya praises PurGo’s ease of use and intuitive workflows. She explains that the waste management software is being used across the business by drivers, administrators, management, and finance and says that “the ‘no jargon’ approach, which includes industry-specific terminology has helped everyone to adopt the technology with ease.” Sonya gave an example of when a system user recently took annual leave and a temporary administrator was able to quickly learn the system – demonstrating continuity.

Drivers have Getac mobile tablets in their vehicles, which they use to access PurGo, whilst on their collection rounds. Feedback from them has been positive and they’ve commented on its simplicity. Sonya explains that “they can take photos and make notes to evidence situations they encounter, which is recorded directly into PurGo.”
Commenting on new business prospects, Sonya explains that “PurGo helps us to identify route density opportunities and proactively target businesses on back routes.
“Using the data, we are able to set up paid Google search campaigns, targeting location and sectors to infill route density.”
The data also enables Midas Waste to identify customers with particularly heavy collections and prospect for additional services with these businesses.
“going paperless has meant that we can work from anywhere and run the business remotely.”
Another key efficiency benefit of PurGo for Midas Waste is its ability to convert paper-led operations to a digital alternative. Sonya says that “going paperless has meant that we can work from anywhere and run the business remotely.” Over the past few years, where waste operations have been disrupted by the global pandemic, this flexibility is of vital importance for business continuity.
From a management perspective PurGo waste management software includes access to a full reporting suite. Sonya explains that she uses the system to report on sub-contracting, cost of sales, profitability and sales opportunities – “all from one system.”
The system integrates with a number of existing Midas Waste systems, including Xero accounting software, enabling finance to streamline their activities and reduce duplication and ENVIROWEIGH bin weighing from Vehicle Weighing Solutions, which pushes bin weight data into PurGo in real time.
Looking to the future, Sonya says that Midas Waste will continue to explore additional PurGo modules including the CRM solution and the customer portal. “The system has been smooth running and the team have been very helpful when we’ve needed them. PurGo can be as basic or as complex as you need it to be and this gives us confidence that it is the right solution to grow with our business.”
